In February 2006 a small group of Wellspring Christian Church members recognized a potential need in Spring Hill, TN. Their vision was to show God’s love by serving food to those in need.
After serving the community for two years The Well had grown tremendously. In January 2008 the leadership team attended a retreat to make important decisions for The Well. The decision was made to apply to become our own non-profit agency separate from Wellspring Christian Church and apply for 501c3 tax-exempt status. During the retreat, the leadership team also wrote a mission statement, formed by-laws, developed job descriptions for staff, and other long-range planning. A board of directors was created to help support and grow The Well. In August 2008, The Well Food Pantry filed Articles of Incorporation and officially changed the oranization’s name to The Well Outreach. In April 2009 The Well Outreach was approved by the IRS and received our own 501c3 tax-exempt status.
The mission of The Well Outreach is: “The Well exists to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving those in need through supporting spiritual, emotional and physical growth.” In the future, we hope to be serving more than food. The leadership team and the many volunteers have several visions for The Well Outreach. In the future The Well would like to provide classes to our clients on budget, finances, career counseling, thrifty shopping and other areas that would further support emotional growth. Supporting Physical growth could be met in other areas, for example discounted health care and affordable clothing. Spiritually The Well Outreach would like to support our clients by providing bible studies, support groups, Christ-centered events, times for worship and prayer meetings.
These are only a few of the visions The Well Outreach has considered; we are patently waiting on and seeking God’s vision for this ministry.
